Dept Coordinator-Constables Training Program - HigherEdJobs

THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION * * *

The Coordinator-Constables Training Program administers one or more state funded training programs delivering basic or continuing education training to criminal justice professionals in multiple venues around Pennsylvania. Responsibilities include; hiring, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of training staff as well as substituting for them when necessary. The coordinator will also create program schedules and maintain program facilities, equipment, handouts, and other materials. In addition, the Coordinator will transport all program equipment (approximately 50 pounds) to various training locations state-wide prior to the start of the program, attend various State Commonwealth meetings, maintain accurate academic records and make reports. Other responsibilities include; monthly payroll, course advertising, registration, testing, recordkeeping, reporting to funding agencies, and assisting with the curriculum development activities of the unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

**Must be able to work between Main Campus and Ambler Campus as required**

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field as well as eligibility for Pennsylvania ACT 44 certification, and at least two (2) years experience in law enforcement training in; firearms, defense tactics, crisis intervention, law, or another related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to travel throughout Pennsylvania, and to transport heavy equipment (approximately 50 pounds) to various training locations.
  • Must have the ability to substitute for trainers when necessary with little or no notice, including weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce lesson plans or use plans developed by others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Established ability to use instructional technology including PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to create/collect attendance records, tests, grade tests, and award grades for topics taught.
Preferred:
  • Current Pennsylvania ACT 44 certification.
  • Masters degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
